This morning I had my Theory Test and... I PASSED! I'm so pleased. I was pretty nervous before I went in even though I hadn't felt the nerves before I got the centre... typical.
I had to get up at 6 o'clock, half an hour earlier than I usually get up, which I thought would be horrible as I'm really not a fan of early mornings AT ALL. But it was actually ok and I managed to get ready and get on a bus for 7:05.
I got to the test centre and pressed the buzzer, and then once I got into the reception area I had to show them my license and whatever and then put all my belongings in the locker. I then sat down in the waiting room to read the information sheet I was given. The information was pretty boring so I was getting distracted by other things. One of those things was the locker key. This small key was attached to a huge foam square (about 20cm) and I noticed the number on it. I had picked locker number 13...
I was sitting there thinking 'oh crap, that's an unlucky number' but then I reasoned with myself that I wasn't really that superstitious and it would be pretty sad to go and change lockers just because of a number. After all... it's just a number. I think that fact that it was number 13 was why the locker was empty in the first place, as people were avoiding it.
Anyway, I left the locker how it was and I was called into the exam room. I went through the instructions where it was going on about touch screen and I was looking at this old style computer (one of the big-ish ones... not flat screened) thinking 'surely it isn't a touch screen.' So I very discretely ( just in case anyone was watching and thinking that I am stupid) touched 'next' while half way through reading the instructions and to my amazement... it was a touch screen. I was unable to go back and read the bit that I hadn't read yet but never mind, it was probably boring anyway.
I then started the multiple choice section of the theory test, of course using the tough screen. There were a few question that I was thinking 'WTF' how am I meant to know that. One of which was about what kind of glasses you shouldn't wear while driving in the dark. I guessed 'tinted' and another about some road markings I had never seen before. It looked like a roundabout but apparently, that wasn't an option... :(
I did my hazard perception test, which was fine apart from getting a little bit bored as there are 14 1 minute long clips... yawn. In between clips I was listening to the clicks going on around me and I could hear a person (who I think was the person just left of me) clicking away lots on her test.
I then thought I would be nice and answer all the extra stuff at the end which was about some possible questions that they might add and another one was about how I felt the test centre was. Then I went out to get my results. I passed!!! Yay! It would have been nice if they had given a proper certificate or something which is clear whether you passed or not and clear how many marks you got as I am easily confused. I only saw that I passed, which made me very pleased and so I collected my belongings out of the not-so-unlucky locker and paused there for a moment trying to find where it said my marks. I then had to hurry as a woman was waiting for my locker (I was thinking to my self 'you don't want this locker, it's number 13' even though it was lucky for me.
On my way to school I sent some texts to my Mum, Dad, Siblings etc to let them know I passed and then spoke to my brother on the phone who was asking what mark I got to which I replied 'what do you mean, what mark? It doesn't say on the sheet' and he was a bit confused as it had said on his sheet what he got when he took his. After I hung up I got out the sheet and read it while walking along and I found the marks that I got... oops :) I then sent a text to James saying something like 'Ooops I just read the sheet and it does have the marks on it, I got 49/50 and 63/75' and when he got home later he called me a doughnut.
Well, whether I am a doughnut or not I passed so I am very happy. Now just the practical test to go... :S
