Driving Fun

I know I still don't have to blog every day, but I still found myself at different points during the day thinking about what I would blog about. I then reminded myself that I didn't actually have to blog because BEDA has finished and I'm not going to turn it in to BEDM because it doesn't have the same ring to it, and I'm not going to change it because that would be silly! 

As you probably know, I am learning to drive. Well, it is my brother's birthday tomorrow and sometime this week he wanted to go and see my dad because we haven't seen him in a while and at the moment my Dad doesn't have a car because of some idiots! Anyway, my mum asked my brother if he would like to go on her insurance for the week, as a little extra for his birthday? He obviously said yes and mum rang up the insurance company and it turned out that it would cheaper if I was also on the insurance... weird! You'd think it would be the other way around, especially as I am still a learner! 

So from today, until next Sunday, I am insured on my mum's car! This afternoon we went out to Tesco garage and bought some L-plates and then we pulled up in the car park and swapped places and mum put the L-plates on! Exciting stuff driving a car... with sole responsibility of the pedals!

After taking a few minutes to get used to the car, we were on our way... yay! However, once we got onto a 60mph road I saw the front L-plate fly back over the windscreen and over the back of the car... oh dear! We were near Sainsbury's at that point so we went in the garage there but they don't sell them! Back to Tesco we go... 

On the way there I looked out for the L-plate (mum was driving at that point) but there was no sign of it! After getting another L-plate, I jumped back in the driving seat! My mum is a pretty good instructor... very calm but she has always found decision making difficult in many circumstances, so it was quite funny when I asked her where she wanted me to go at the round about, because she said 'ooh, errr, I don't know!' 

A while ago, with my instructor, he asked me to do the emergency stop and I had mental block and put the clutch pedal down first and immediately knew it was wrong - so annoying! We did a mock test the other day and I had to do the emergency stop. In my mind I was saying 'break first, break first, break first' but I think I may have slipped when doing the break pedal, meaning that I hit the clutch first. But I was quick to put my break on so we still stopped very quickly! It was either that, or I put them both at the same time, but the clutch slightly before! I knew as soon as I did it and said 'AH CRAP' and my instructor said 'don't worry about it, just concentrate on the last bit'... so I did but I was SO annoyed with myself!

I was trying so hard to get it right and I didn't! Honestly, I can't tell you how annoyed I was and it did affect the rest of the drive, even though I know I shouldn't have let it! 

I told my mum before we went out driving that before the emergency stop she has to look around and check it's all clear but I said I wasn't being rude but I didn't want to do an emergency stop! But we were driving along a road and my mum said 'go on Steph, do an emergency stop' and I said 'err no' and she said 'go on, just do it, it's fine!'... so I did! And I got it right and it was fine... yay! So it wasn't as bad as I thought!

It was amusing and I really enjoyed it! Thank you Mum! Hopefully we will go out again sometime again this week! Maybe I'll persuade her to take me tomorrow for an hour or so or something! It also means that once I have passed my test that I could go on my mum's insurance occasionally if I need/want to and it wouldn't cost too much!

Dog's Dinner

While I wrote my blog yesterday about the ticklish penguin, I was reminded of another YouTube video that is ABSOLUTELY genius!

I was emailed this one ages ago by Tim and I absolutely love it... it is just so simple, but it is funny! It is my mum's favourite. I remember when I forwarded her the email I was sat in my room and I could hear my mum at the top of the stairs sat at her computer in fits of laughter! And then a few days later I was in the kitchen and I heard her laughing again, I went upstairs and there she was, watching the YouTube clip! I managed to film her reaction about half way through the clip at one point so here it is, it is so typical of my mum (the hands expecially): 

Mrs Brown's Boys

I hadn't even heard of it, until my brother mentioned it while I was in his room having a general chit chat earlier. Apparently, it had been on BBC1 every Monday night for 6 weeks... and I had no idea! 

James found it on the internet and put it on for me and Joely (his girlfriend) to watch while he... attended to other business. And I LOVE it!! It's really funny, there is at least a laugh a minute. It is a complete laugh from the first few seconds of the series.

Plus Mrs Brown really reminds me of my mum, not because it is a man in a dress... I was actually referring to the similarity in their sense of humours. 

It's mainly because my mum has a bit of a reputation within our house hold for turning anything into some kind of innuendo, which is amusing (most of the time), and Mrs Brown is always turning things into something sexual, which is hilarious! 

My favourite bit of what I saw today has got to be when the doctor came to check on the granddad, was trying to take his temperature but granddad wouldn't keep the thermometer in his mouth so he needed a rectal examination. Mrs Brown and the Doctor went to get a drink from the kitchen and the daughter came down to find the granddad in the middle of the living room with his bum out, so she pulled up his trousers and told him to sit down. Granddad was shaking his head and saying no but she sat him down anyway, and obviously he screamed. 

I was in stitches at that point, as was Joely. I just thought that was so funny, and who ever wrote that is an absolute genius!

If you didn't see it, then I advise that you go and watch it or something because it is just so funny! I've only watched part of the first episode but I fully intend to watch the rest of them. I can't wait to watch more of it because it is just so funny! Anyone with a similar sense of humour will love it!

Happy Mother's Day

Just a quick blog today just to say Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums! Especially mine of course, because she is amazing! (According to Amy she 'sounds like a ledge' - my mum was VERY pleased with that comment).

LOVE YOU MUM!! You're so special, and that's exactly why we love you. I wouldn't want a normal mum... it would be too... normal?!?! I don't like the thought of that!! Wuv oooo!!

My mum wanted to go on a bike ride with my step dad, Graham, this morning and so my brother woke me up at 9 (an hour earlier than I had planned) so that she could have her presents before. She was VERY pleased to find a nice bottle of Tia Maria in a bottle bag (her favourite) which she picked up and kissed. She was also very pleased to receive lots of 'special' chocolate (dairy free) and I am sure she will enjoy munching that at some point.

After this, they went out on their bike ride and me, my sister and brother went to our Dad's house (I know it's mother's day but my brother works Saturdays, we hadn't seen him in a few weeks and it was his birthday yesterday so I had to give him his cake - of course). We later found out that their bike ride was 36 miles!!!!!!!!!!!! MENTAL! They got back at about half 2 and they had left at 10am! Silly people, fancy going on a 36 mile bike ride! I thought the 18 mile ones that mum takes us on are bad!!

My Mum is the Only Fool ;)

Yesterday I went up to Croydon to see my Auntie Christine, Uncle Stan, Auntie Wendy and her little dog Tilly. We had a lovely day up there and we played The Million Pound Drop board game which was good fun... we knew barely any of the answers but still it was good fun and quite addictive! After I don't know how many games I did manage to win £175000 of fake money (damn...), and my Auntie Christine managed to win £50000 (or something like that, it could be more.) 

On the journey up there in the car we were listening to the Only Fools and Horses audio CD and it was so funny! But what was funnier was my mum laughing... as you can see in the video above! Mum was laughing like mad for ages and it was actually funnier than listening to the actual tape properly. So I decided to secretly film her on my phone... muhahahahahahaha!
